Privacy Policy for Concisio Chrome Extension

Effective Date: 07/01/2025

Last Updated: 12/26/2025

1. Introduction

This Privacy Policy describes how the Concisio Chrome Extension ("Concisio", "we", "our", or "us") handles your information. Concisio is designed to summarize publicly available web content to help users save time, enhance productivity, and improve information clarity.

We take privacy seriously. This document outlines what data we collect (if any), how it is used, and your rights as a user.

2. Information We Collect

Concisio is designed with a privacy-first approach. We minimize data collection and only gather information necessary for core functionality.

Information we do not collect:

  • Browsing history
  • Form inputs or passwords
  • Advertisements or payment data

Information we may collect:

Account Information (Optional): If you choose to sign in with Google, we collect:

  • Your email address (for account identification)
  • Basic profile information (name, profile picture)

This information is used solely for:

  • Account management and authentication
  • Subscription status verification
  • Syncing preferences across devices
  • Usage limit tracking

You can use Concisio without signing in. Account creation is optional.

Technical Data: We may collect limited technical data to ensure proper functioning:

  • Extension version
  • Browser version
  • Basic error and diagnostic logs (non-identifiable)

This data is used solely to improve stability, security, and reliability.

3. How Summarization Works

When you choose to summarize content using Concisio, the visible text of the open webpage may be sent to a secure, cloud-based language processing service. This allows Concisio to generate summaries using modern machine learning and artificial intelligence models.

Key privacy characteristics:

  • Only the visible text content is processed — no hidden form fields, cookies, or background tabs
  • No personal user data is included in the request (except user ID for signed-in users to track usage limits)
  • Content is transmitted securely using industry-standard encryption (HTTPS)
  • Summaries are returned to your browser and not stored or reused

We do not use this data for training, advertising, profiling, or cross-site analysis.

For signed-in users: Your email is used to track usage limits and subscription status. This data is stored securely and not shared with third parties except as needed for payment processing.

4. Local Storage

Concisio may store certain preferences and configuration data locally in your browser:

  • Preferred theme or view mode
  • Last-used summary settings
  • Authentication tokens (if signed in)

This information remains on your device and is not transmitted or shared externally. You may remove it at any time by uninstalling the extension or clearing your browser's extension data.

5. How We Use Information

We use collected information for the following purposes:

  • Ensuring the extension works as intended
  • Detecting and fixing bugs or errors
  • Enhancing future product performance
  • Managing user accounts and subscriptions (if signed in)
  • Enforcing usage limits based on subscription tier

We do not use collected information to identify individuals for marketing, advertising, or behavioral analytics.

6. Sharing and Disclosure

We do not sell, rent, or trade any user data.

We do not disclose any information to third parties except:

  • As required by law (e.g., in response to valid legal requests)
  • To service providers acting on our behalf for summarization functionality, under strict data protection obligations
  • To payment processors (Stripe) for subscription management, if you upgrade to a paid plan
  • If required for the operation or improvement of the extension

These service providers may include secure automation or AI platforms used for processing content temporarily to return summaries.

7. Security

We take appropriate measures to protect all transmitted and stored data, including:

  • Secure transport encryption (HTTPS)
  • OAuth 2.0 authentication for Google Sign-In
  • Controlled access to diagnostic data (if collected)
  • No permanent storage of user-submitted content

Since most summarization is performed in-session, exposure is minimized.

8. Data Retention and Deletion

We do not retain user-submitted content or personal data beyond what is necessary for account management.

Account Data: If you sign in, your email and profile information are retained until you delete your account.

Local Preferences: Automatically removed upon uninstalling the extension.

Diagnostic Logs: Retained only for operational purposes and periodically deleted.

9. Children's Privacy

This extension is not intended for use by children under the age of 13. We do not knowingly collect or solicit personal information from children.

10. User Rights

You may:

  • Uninstall the extension at any time to stop all data use
  • Delete your account by contacting support
  • Request a copy of your data
